Help me learn some audio stuff

Go to solution Solved by ShearMe,

Thanks! But can you tell me the basic name of the big thingy that a simple dude at a store can understand :D and ok with an amp, but what do i need to look in an amp to get it working for my case? Is it any ol amp capable of driving the desired max ohms? And sorry but in my country i can't seem to find that kind of amps for that cheap. The linked one is for 20$ and the cheapest stuff i can get here are like 50$

It'd probably be classified as a receiver. It receives various inputs (radio, CD, cassette, aux in, etc) and outputs the one you select through the speakers.

"Any ole amp" would work, but you gotta make sure it's for speakers and not headphones. Have you checked eBay for the Lepai?

My knoledge especially in the audio side of things is really limited, so what better thing to do than ask for help? don't know jack sh** about this so here is my newbie explanation of what am i trying to do:

I have this thing:

Which name i do not know (please tell me) but i'll refer to it as the body of my audio system, died. I fried it while trying to fix some stuff, long story, nvm.

To the body i had hooked up a couple of (from what i can tell 6ohm) speakers:

Via this cable

Which name i will also like to know.

Fixin that big chunk of trash will be expensive for my cheap ol self (you probably guessed that by the amazing quality of my camera). It will be something alongs the lines of 50-60 USD. To give you some idea for how much this cost is in my country - it's 1/3 of the minimum wage, so yeah. So the idea is you guys can tell me the cheapest possible way that i can use those speakers with my PC (only 3,5mm jack, onboard sound y'know). Also tell me the names of the things above :).

Should i get the bulky thing fixed or should i buy something else maybe? Thanks in advance!

The big middle thing has a lot of components, the important one being an amp which drives the speakers,

The speakers are the things on the side which make the sound.

LP-2020A+ Lepai amp is an amp which will drive the speakers.

Sorry i edited my last post quite slowly, the best option right now is this imo:

http://www.hit-electronics.com/ozvuchavane/za-doma/usilvateli-resivari-grupa/usilvatel-s-tuner-av-698e.htm

Will it work and will it do fine? For 15$ or so i think it will be fine.

Well, I can't speak for that product's quality, but it is designed to drive speakers, yes.
