Server Build on the cheep

i would like to build a server. All it has to do is run a game server and have it run unraid. i would like it to also function as a nas as well. i don't have a lot of money to spend on it so i would like it to be cheep. does any one have any suggestions

So you are pretty much looking for a computer. As long as it has a dual core (or better) cpu and atleast 4G ram anything should work. Look around your local marketplaces for cheapass prebuilt computers.

any computer can be a server.

A server is just a regular computer that's optimized to run 24/7

It doesn't need to have anything special like special memory, special power supply etc etc

 

Figure out what processor that game server needs , some game servers use only one core so they prefer processors with few cores but cores running at high frequency and other game servers can use multiple cores to do the same work.

 

The NAS part doesn't have any particular preference when it comes to CPU.
