Water Cooling Basics?

Go to solution Solved by WaavinHicks,

I did a full loop with cpu gpu and 2 radiators in my first build that i built myself, if i managed to get it working im sure anyone can.

2 main things with loop order, most important is your reservoir is above the pump so the pump is gravity fed and that the reservoir directly feeds your pump. second, go for the shortest runs possible.

dont cheap out either, using budget parts to move water around electrical equipment scares me, dont need to spend $1000's just dont find the cheapest possible part ;)

for the parts basically you will need waterblocks for whatever you decide to cool (atleast the cpu generally) tubing, pump, reservoir, radiator(s), fans, and 2 fittings per block in your loop (if using barb fittings get a zip tie or hose clamp to give the tubing some extra security).

Hey guys! I was interested in water cooling and just wanted to know the basics. Ok, so from my understanding these are the main parts, a reservoir, pump, tubes, and liquid. The pump pushes the liquid from the reservoir to the tubes to the components of the computer. This is where I get confused in what order does the liquid flow? For example is it reservoir, CPU, GPU, back to reservoir. Also What exactly do the radiators do and what do I do with them? Oh and do you guys know where I can buy kits for water cooling? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well it isn't that complicated if you want a closed loop water cooler like a H80i,H100i, H105, or H110 but I do not know really know that much about custom loop water coolers

Frozencpu.com aquatuning.us

They have kits

Watercooling is not hard. The reservoir holds the water that drains to the pump which pushes the water through the tubes and over the blocks. Eventually through a radiator in which the heat from the water is transfered to the fins and those are cooled by fans. It starts at the reservoir and goes to the pump but after that it doesnt matter. What order.

I would recommend making a thread here and getting so help to make your own loop. Not a kit.

judging for your other posts this sounds like your first build, dont do it due to all the factors from lack of experience (no offence) just dont do it on your first build closed loops like the h100i are fine

No, actually this would be my 3rd build. Also I tend to ask pretty basic questions just for conformation and I usually word them terribly which makes me look like I know nothing.

nothing wrong with that, id read posts and such on how to set up loops before jumping in the deep end (hehe get it deep end water no laughs ok ill be going) before you make your decision
