router to network switch

hey guys I have just got a new router new router and I have gotten rid of the old one and put it in the draw until now. but then I remembered that I needed a network switch and I heard somewhere that I could use the old router as the switch, I am using a virgin media superhub, and that is my main problem because it only has coaxial input but it does have 4 ethernet outputs, I was wondering if I could convert one of them to inputs and then have 3 outputs to different devices.

No, it won't work because of COAX,

 

Unmanaged switches are less than £20 on Amazon.

It does work, if you can deactivate DHCP. You might also want to deactivate WiFi. You can then use those 4 ports like any other switch (ignore the COAX).

Yes, it should work. You might even be able to configure it as an AP. Although, you should disable DHCP in the settings, as well as probably the IP of the device itself, so that it gets its IP address from the main router.
