Premiere Pro Not improting

hi all, i am doing media at college, and i am editing together all the clips from filming, but they are all saved as .MOV, at college it works fine when editing with them on the macs, but when at home on a windows system, it doesn't want to import, it normally says that either there is a generic error or that it is corrupt. so i tried to install QuickTime and it still didn't work, when i play the files in QuickTime the video files on play audio with a black screen, and only VLC plays the video along with audio. does anyone know how to fix this? any help will be appreciated.
