so i've done lots of testing and tinkering with a 4k monitor trying to figure out what's causing choppy unsmooth gameplay  i've tried everything and what i find is that instead of running a display port even tho its suppose to be better and supports  a higher fresh rate   i've plugged hdmi in and just like that buttery smooth game play even tho hdmi will only alot 30mhz refresh rate on this monitor 

wouldn't you think you would get better smoother game play with display port at a higher refresh rate?

what games are you playing? Have you monitored your system usage? Hows the temps of your components?

all temps stay good and the cpu and gpu uses are well balanced 

 

for some reason it just works better with an hdmi cable in stead of a display port which i dont get? lol

could be a bad cable. Display port cables with monitors are known to not be good quality and cause issues. I would get a new Display port cable and try.

ok well if it were bad wouldn't it not work at all? 

 

what do you mean by known to not be good quality ? ... i've heard they are going to become a new standard and that's because they are suppose to be faster and provide faster refresh rates and provide better quality and resolution? 

is that not true?

Yes, display port as a whole standard is the best, but the quality of cable thats provided in the box with majority of monitors is poor and can be the source of issue.

You were right I decided to test your theory of a bad cable I went and bought a new display port cable and sure enough I noticed no stuttering very smooth gameplay even plugged the second during monitor back in works perfectly so I guess it turns out it was a bad cable after all and it kind of pissed me off the HDMI worked better then the display port
