I've made a few posts about this but haven't really seemed to come to anything that would find the problem. Im having a problem with high cpu usage it started I want to say at the beginning of the month after a Windows update and gets worse and worse everyday. Also when im gaming and even when I just have a few tabs open on my pc and the specs are not bad at all I have tried many things like rolling back gpu drivers, clearing junk files, ending tasks on task manager and running games on low graphics and low frame rate which have help a little bit but with a pc with specs like mine it should have zero problems running games. The temps are fine I have an io cooler and its usually at about 45-55 when gaming so I know its not over heating. I've tried many things and I was thinking I might just have to come to conclusion and try and roll back windows and use an older version because after that update at the beginning of October it started having problems. If I do go through with the the older version of windows I dont want to accidentally try and lose everything on my system and windows itself I saw that you need a 16gb usb drive to fully back up windows and I was wondering if I might need a larger one to keep it on. Sorry for writing a whole paragraph.. I just want to play some games and in peace without my game stuttering nonstop .Also if anyone has ideas as too what the cause of the high cpu usage could be id really appreciate it thanks guys!

Specs:

i5 8600k

gtx 1070

16gb RAM

and here are some things that might help:

all cores when playing Destiny 2:

Usage when playing and ignore it when it gets lower its because I tabbed out to record it:

You should keep windows on a small partition so it's easy to reinstall

more than likely you just want to do a fresh install of windows, and maybe make sure your motherboard bios is updated.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

You should have some way to back up your important data in any event, so buy a 64/128GB flash drive, or just get like an SSD that you probably want anyways, and back up the important stuff there.

But you would want to totally wipe the hard drive and start over if it's one big partition.

You can try splitting the partition, but that's kind of a pain I think.

okay I might try downloading and older version first because before the update everything was fine and if that doesn't work i'll try to see if restoring will help. Hopefully this work cuz its been a freaking trip over the past week trying to see if I could find the problem...

Generally the fastest thing is probably just nuking windows and starting over given the lack of quality control from Microsoft.

After you back up your data you can try splitting the partition so you may not have to reinstall everything, and can just install windows on the new empty partition.

144hz but ive put it down to 90 and it does help and the usage hovers around 75-90% which is silly how high it is.

Do you have the 8600K OC'd? If not you could try that to get some more performance out of it. The CPU usage seems pretty right for an 8600K it's not a high-end CPU it's only 6 cores without HT so it will struggle a bit at high frame rates.

There was also the Gyazo app that looked like it was using a bit of CPU, you could try removing that.

I havent tried overclocking it the gyazo app only popped up because thats what I used to record the gif too show you it went away after I showed you.

Yeah I know it cant handle high frames its not the most high end cpu I usually get around 120 but it stutters since the usage is at like 90% for a single game ive played before and the usage would be around 50-60% not that high.
