After a bit of thinking I have come to the following conclusion:
Since cats generate lots of lolz, we can assume:

People are attracted to lolz. so with raising level of lolz there will be more people. More people buy cats, which in turn generate lolz.
We can put this into the following differential equation:

which means that through planting a single cat, the amount of lolz which is equal to the amount of cats rises.
Hence the plan behind this must be:

MOAR CATS

The ,, simply must be the cat he planted, or more precisely it's eyes glowing in the dark.

It's a javascript function that was mis-named. It's part of the forums api.
