Hey guys I have been having a bit of difficulty trying to troubleshoot what is wrong with my PC.

Here is what happens:

1. Everything is going ok and all of a sudden the computer completely freezes

    a. Sometimes everything is stuck and even the mouse isn't moving

    b. Sometimes nothing responds but the mouse cursor is moving
    c. Sometimes everything goes black

2. When it freezes the computer does a wind up noise, like fans coming to life. Then it makes a mechanical noise like HDD reading or writing.

    a. The whole process takes anywhere from 5 seconds to 10 seconds

3. Everything goes back to normal

Frequency of event:

It is not regular like every 30 mins or something like that, but rather randomly. But it does happen a lot and it is super annoying when trying to play a game. Some games will crash others don't just freezes up for 10 secs and everything goes back to normal.

When event occurs:

There is no particular task that sets it off. It seems like the PC decides that its a good time to reboot everything and check if everything is running. It happens when playing a game, listening to music, watching youtube or any stream, watching a video file, browsing the internet, and also doing absolutely nothing and staring at the screen.

I have attached the system info here. If there is any other information I can provide let me know.

I know my way around a computer, but I am not extremely good at it or anything. I built this myself, it is liquid cooled with soft tubing, getting RGB fans has made an absolute mess of wiring at the back with extensions and splitters galore. I will most likely change that to simple fans with just white lights if I can, so I am not running 2 cables from each fan. Also my GPU is vertically mounted with a PCIe extender cable from thermaltake. There is no OC on either the CPU or the GPU.

Hope that was enough information to at least help me get started on figuring out what is going wrong with my PC. Thank you for reading this far and I would cherish you forever if you can figure it out or help me figure it out.

If your fans are ramping up when this occurs, its possible it could have something to do with any software you may have installed for managing case fans or the like. When this occurs does it always resolve itself or do you have to restart your computer sometimes? I've many situations where a corrupted driver somewhere will cause these sort of symptoms.

Thanks for the reply!

Yes they ramp up and then become stable again but I have no software installed to help with any of the fans. All of them are tied to CPU temp from the bios of the mobo.

It always resolves itself, I haven't had to restart my computer once after this happened. I have restarted it for various other reasons, just never because of this. It freezes and then everything goes back to normal after 5-10 secs.
