Need help with gaming headsets

Looking to get my first (real) gaming headset for PC and I don't really know the market. I've had my eye on the Logitech G430's for a while. I've tested them out in a store and they sound great. I'd like something comparable to these.

The only MUST'S are surround sound and price of <$150 WANT'S include heavy/low bass (for super dirty dubstep xD), retractable/detachable mic (although ive heard these are lower quality mics), I want a headset that sounds beautiful in both games and music.

SO SUGGESTIONS, SUGGESTIONS

Thank you :)

Why is surround sound a must?

Would you consider a separate headphone and mic solution?

Only a must because of personal preference. I don't really want a separate mic because im not really worried about my mic quality, I'd just be gaming. I just want a headset for ease of use/accessibility/concenience.

I like the razer kraken 7.1 comfortable, retractable mic.

My friend has these and recommends them but I have also heard they break easily? Though I don't now if this is true or not.

I think they are sturdy, of course, I don't throw them around lol, but don't totally take my word for these, I'm just really careful ;_;

Well, virtual surround sound can be done in computer software, so I don't think it's necessary to buy a headset with it. "True" surround sound headsets don't really sound so great for music.

I'm going to recommend a V-Moda Crossfade LP with their BoomPro mic. If purchsed on Amazon, they will be over budget, but I truly think you should condider it. The mic is detachable, and the headphones come with two cables - one with an inline button mic, one without. They've got mostly metal construction so are extremely durable, can be customized with lazer-engraved cup plates, are designed with portability in mind but are comfortable enough for home use, and are extremely bass heavy for that dubstep you mentioned.

Just a suggestion, and I understand if you don't take it.

These look really good but i have a pretty strict budget, I've already pushed it from $120 to $150, but good suggestion

I also usually only buy from Newegg or straight from the company if they don't have it.

Yeah, budgets often don't budge but I figured I'd make sure.

The SteelSeries Siberia V2 is the only reputable headset I have experience with, though not as bassheavy as Razer's options I think.

I've heard good things about these too.

Thanks for all the input!

I have the Steelseries 9H and really enjoy them. The headset sounds excellent, has EQ's for music (which adds a good amount of bass, and includes surround sound), sturdy build quality, and are extremely comfortable. They normally retail for $160 but TigerDirect has them new for $118 right now.

Only thing I will note is that I personally think surround sound OFF sounds much better, but the option is still there if that's your preference. hope this helps.
