Bashful - Win 10 Daily Driver

This is Bashful, my Windows 10 Daily Driver. It's getting a little long in the tooth after almost 5 years of service but for desktop productivity and Photo Editing it's still a workhorse.

Yes, I know, it needs a cleaning but this box runs 24x7 and finding downtime is a pain.

Chassis: Fractal Design Node 804

Power Supply: Corsair TX750M

Mainboard: SuperMicro X0-SL7-F

CPU: Intel Xeon e3-1231v3 3.4GHz

Memory: 4 x 8GB ECC Crucial DDR3-1633

OS/Apps: 2 Samsung EVO pro 250GB 2.5" SSD (RAID 1)

Local Storage: 4 x Seagate 7200rpm 3TB NAS (HW RAID 10)

Front Intake Fans: 2 x 120mm Cougar Vortex PWM; 2 120mm Fractal

Rear Exhaust Fans: Noctua NF-A14; Fractal 120mm Silent R2

GPUS: AMD FirePro W4100/ EVGA GTX 1060 6GB SC Gaming (Short Board)

OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

Displays 3 x Asus ProArt PA248; 1 x 22" NEC SpectraView

Wacom Tablet, Corsair Gaming Keyboard (Reds); Mico$oft Bluetooth mouse; Epson v4900 Photo Scanner

This system normally runs 4 displays off the 1/2 height AMD FirePro W4100 but for Folding Month I've installed a EVGA GTX 1060 6GB which is producing around 450kPPD even while having 20 or so tabs open in Firefox, Lightroom, 30 PuTTY windows, several Excel Sheets, HFM and the FAHControl all open. The CPU is folding on 6 threads and running 24x7 at 3.57GHz and it runs at about 11/32GB Memory consumed. No noticeable lag except in Lightroom.

Oooo someone with a Node 804 out "in the wild" aka still in use. What's your experience and thoughts building in it and using it over the years? Asking because I was so close to buying one for my current rig but held off too long that they went out of stock on many of the sites I could buy from at the time.

Desktop: KiRaShi-Intel-2022 (i5-12600K, RTX2060) Mobile: OnePlus 5T | Koodo - 75GB Data + Data Rollover for $45/month

Its not a bad compromise for a mATX. The biggest issue is the lack of space for a full sized GPU though there is filtered inlets in the floor of the chassis. Lots of room for adding fans and coolers. Would probably be nice for a small water-cooled rig.

Its nice that there is a separate compartment for HDDs as my motherboard only had dual Intel Nics and it's a bit slow opening files on my FreeNAS server so being able to squeeze in a 4-disk RAID 10 and not have it impede airflow over the motherboard was a plus.

If you load the disk cages up the cabling gets funky but not too many people are using spinning rust these days but I have thousands of images I need to work with and I use this system for transcoding BlueRays for uploading to the NAS so being able to have 5TB of local storage is nice.

Not as nice as the Define for working in but better than the node 204 and not a bad compromise for the form-factor.

I'm thinking about what do do for the upgrade a wish the Large Corsair Cube (701?) was still available as I'm looking at a Threadripper virtualization build and being able to run my daily driver in a Windows vm on Ubuntu and use pass-through for the GPU and NVMe
