hello Linus Tech Tips. i have recently deleted the wrong partition "not intentionally" using windows 10 re installation setup screen. i did unplug the drive when installing windows on the other drive 1 TB HDD. i did how ever format the drive within the operating system after installation have i lost my files? ? i did it to make it appear again in my computer i re-assigned a new drive partition. is that bad? it is a 500 GB ordinary hard drive seagate or Western digital.

Unless you want to send your disk to schwitzerland and pay $$$ (alot) then yes

Not fix, recover the files you lost, that will very pricey though, are you prepared to pay minimum 400 dollars? That might be way higher though, but at least 400 - 500 for sure.

Must it be Switzerland? ? I'm sure someone in South Africa offers data recover services if the op is willing to go that road.

It was a joke :D But there is some company. Can't remember the name on top of my head, but my workplace has use it in past a couple of times. They can recover, even if the disk is shattered, but if I recall correctly it cost from around $1k. My recalling is not working atm. Maybe I need to send my head to Switzerland.
