Just played the Quake RTX demo on my machine with my GTX1080. Dunno why people keep on about needing RTX cards, played fine! Got a whole 24FPS!! (at 1280x720... Don't ask what it was running at when at 1920x1080... Okay it was 13FPS stop asking!!)

Actually it did remind me of my first time playing Doom (the original) on my 486SX25. Had to scale the window right down on that to so that the frame rate was somewhat bearable to...

Ryzen 1700 4GHz OC, Gigabyte AB350-Gaming 3 Motherboard, Corsair 32GB 3000MHz RAM, Gigabyte RTX 2080 Super

Alienware 13 R3, 7700HQ, 16GB 2667MHz RAM, GTX 1060 6GB

@smartroad - playable at 1080p on my 1080TI's as well. Don't think SLI came into play as the graphic cards are only lightly loaded. Would be nice if somebody could code a utility so one GPU handled the graphics and the other card performed the ray tracing calculations similar to PhysX.

I do.

I bought a 50hz 486 computer to play the original Doom. It was the last prebuilt I bought for my personal use.

I did not mind paying the $1600 the system cost at the time and I did not mind the cost of my 2080 ti. I consider it the price for admission.

With it I average 60fps at 1440p on Quake RTX. It is about as hard to run as Control with RTX on.

I can't speak for everyone but I am pretty happy with how Control looks with RTX and DLSS. Performance is decent enough for that sort of game, too.

Also, with enough power (2080ti for 1440p or 2070 for 1080p) you can get 60 fps (sometimes dips to 50 on the 2070) with RTX on, without the need for DLSS (which is just straight butt), and it looks great and runs smooth.

Im happy with the RTX cards now that they are actually making games with RTX, that look great, at release (metro= pretty cool, control=excellent).  If this continues, I will still be happy.  I will be ecstatic when cyperpunk launches, as it appears significantly better with RTX on (as does control).  I need to see the shadows cast from keanu's face stubble in real time, otherwise what am I doing here?!

However if they keep doing this "will have RTX" and then patch it in 6 months+ later (what they have done far too much), I will be less happy.
