Hi All,

I want to build a new gaming PC that can run all games on high or very high settings for at least 3 to 5 years.

My current list for the Case is:

- Ryzen 5 3600X

- MSI RTX 2080 GAMING X TRIO

- 16x2 ddr4 3200 mhz cl16 corsair vengeance ram

- Corsair Force Series MP600 1TB

- ASUS AM4 TUF Gaming X570-Plus

- Noctua NH-D15

- Seasonic Focus GX-750, 750W 80+ Gold

- Corsair H500P case

Or

- i7 9700k

- MSI Z390-A PRO LGA1151

- EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 XC ULTRA GAMING

- Samsung 970 EVO Plus Series 1TP

Let me know what you guys think, My budget is about 1500USD for the PC and I don't mind gaming on 1080P.

Thank you for your suggestion :D

you don't need a high end nvme SSD for just gaming, get a sabrent rocket instead. get a 3600 instead of the 3600x and a 16gb kit. PSU is also overkill for a single GPU.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

Hi Herman,

Thanks! Actually that will save $100, good. What do you recommend about the processor Ryzen 5 3600 with RTX 2080 OR i7 9th generation with RTX 2070?

the 2080 rig will perform better. need os/monitor/peripherals? which country?

3600 with 2080. It will take time for games to fully utilize 8 cores. So a hyper-threaded 6 core is what is best for today. I had pick the 8700K over 9700K for modern gaming and since the 3600 goes head to head with the 8700K with PBO enabled, there is no actual need to go spend a 100 bucks more on the CPU. Also better streaming/recording with the higher thread count. Also Sabrent Rocket is more than enough for SSD.

For the Intel system you will need a much better motherboard.

Only if you mod games with large textures do you need a 970 EVO. I have a 2tb version and only my modded games benefit from it. Load times are about the same as my computer that uses a SATA SSD.

I bought 32gbs of 3200mhz ram a few weeks ago and my games run the same as they did with 16gbs. I bought the ram because it is cheap right now. not for game performance.

If you play old single core modded games you would be better off with the X version of the Ryzen.

For future proofing I would only get a R9 3900X or i9 9900k.

There is no future proofing GPUs since none on the market can power the most popular monitor(1440p 144hz). Not even my RTX 2080 ti.

To last 3-5 years without any issues, I'd suggest changing the 2080 to a 2070 Super or 5700XT, and then changing the 3600x to a 3700x. The extra 2 cores will last a lot longer, and although you'll lose 5-10% performance overall, you'll gain the 'futureproofing' and it'll prevent any stutters 3-5 years down the line.

so, change the GPU to something that performs worse?

1. if you want cheap out go for 5700XT, although the performance is much more equal to 2070 Super. little bit behind 2080. but for much more cheaper price.

2. 3600X is marketing trap. more money for little increase on frequency. 3600 is much more better.

3. speaking of performance then the option would be clear. 3600 win over i7 because of 2080 compare to 2070. we were talking about gaming performance solely.

4. last one is there no such thing as future proof. even at one year they will release new product. 3 - 5 years would be outdated. but still if you really want to force to last long than upgrading 3700X is much more better since it has more core and thread. and i think 16GB is okay.
