GPU & Framerate

So I am currently running an RTX 2070 xc ultra gaming GPU.

My main question is if I have a game capped at 240 but my monitor is 144hz will I notice a difference if I cap it at 144fps instead?

Would that show any benefits over running it at 240fps?

 

It's my first computer is it true that I can use freesync with an Nvidia GPU? If so.. what do I need to set that up and how can I do it?

i never lock frame rate just so it doesn't drop under my refresh rate. You can only tell the difference with Freesync/G-sync at low fps, 40-100fps-ish from what i know

higher framerate than refresh rate dosnt affect smoothness but its rumored to reduce input lag so you shouldnt cap it

Screen tearing is always there unless the frames are synced.

You likely have adaptive sync on and don't even know it.

It uses Embedded Display Port - everything is theoretically supported

where can i find the option to disable it? its not in the nvidia control panel cuz i also have integrated graphics

If you have optimus then Intel's driver directly controls the display and enforces V-sync in non-fullscreen applications

i dont have optimus and im able to explicitly set which programs run on what gpu. and the default is the 1060 because this laptop rarely leaves my desk
