I recently shipped a friend a computer, leaving the graphics card inside it, and good Ol USPS managed to damage the motherboard during shipment. I've walked him through some troubleshooting steps, and we now know the RAM, GPU and Power supply are still functional and that the motherboard was damaged. He has never built a PC before however, and I'm looking for a good tutorial, text with photos or a video guiding him through replacing a motherboard. Does anyone know any good resources?

Could just send them a beginners build guide and they can probably work from that

Replacing a motherboard is more difficult than building a new system. Removal of the cpu cooler and cpu in particular must be very carefully done. Cleaning the cooler interface plate and cpu top also require care. Any video you send them should be particular to the type of cpu (AMD or Intel) and cpu cooler (air or aio).

Did you consider having the friend ship everything back to you for repair?

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
