Cloud Stinger and usb sound card

My brother recently damaged combo audio jack on his laptop(Asus X550L). The sound still works, but jack doesn't pick up the microphone from his Cloud Stinger headset. Since I own a pair of Cloud 2's, I tested my usb audio card. It worked perfectly. So I thought that any usb sound card will work for him and bought him the inexpensive Orico SKT2 sound adapter. Audio works perfectly, but no matter what I do, I can't get the microphone to work. I was using combo to mic and headphones adapter that came in the box with the headset. I sent Orico a mail, and they replied that their adapter uses OMTP standard. Stingers use CTIA standard.

 

Any help to fix this is appreciated
