Hi all,

Thinking to build a new machine as my primary and turn my current machine into my spare rig (incase primary breaks)

I have the hardware but just checking if people would move any kit around or swap any over?

Hm, maybe use both your RAM dims in your primary machine? 8gb might not be enough for a primary rig.

i have a total of 16x 8gb sticks, so enough for 8 in each.

well even if you don't want to invest some $ for another dim for your main rig, maybe you want to keep both dims on your new rig, and in case it has some issues migrate them to the older rig. As far as i understand, you are not going to use both at the same time.

another dim? there are 8 slots in each motherboard and i have 16 sticks so where would i put the extras?

omg sorry, I completely missread your original post. I thought you have 2 dims in total using 1 for each rig.
