Upgrading existing rig

Kinootje

Hey everybody,

I'm looking to upgrade my current rig.
Mostly looking for a cpu upgrade. My budget is around 600-700€ (Can be more but not too much :D).
Currently I run this build:

    CooMas Hyper212 EvoG
MSI 2070 SUPER GAMING X TRIO
    Intel Core i5-4690K 3500 1150 BOX

    CooMas G750M 750W ATX
Sharkoon T9 Value red edition ATX

    MSI Z97 GAMING 5 Z97

    D316GB 1600-999 Vengeance Pro rd K2 COR

The system will be mainly used for gaming and a bit of programming work. Running 2 monitors,  one 1080p 144hz, the other 1080p 60hz.

I'm mainly upgrading because my current build is getting bottlenecked in newer games by my GPU.

I'm located in Belgium so local prizes here apply.

With kind regards,

Yentl Kinoo

why? it's honestly one of the worse x570's out there, and there's no need for it in the first place, because a 3600 doesn't pull much and pcie 4 doesn't make sense yet

MSI fucked up the gaming  plus on X570, see if an aorus elite or X570-P/TUF is available instead. Get the 3700x instead and oc.

Oh seriously :o didn't know this, my previous z97 gaming 5 from MSI was pretty good so I thought this one would also suffice

i mean... asrock did a even harder fuckup with the pro4, by just taking the vrm off the x470 master/sli.

the x570 aorus elite and tuf would be better, but completely unneeded

a 3600 pulls about as much as a 2600

Is the difference between the 3800x and 3700x that small? Heard some people say that I should maybe wait for a new intel line-up.

That's indeed possible, I've already considered this before, because while it has been doing its job. 4-5y is a bit long for this brand and type I heard

And would my cooling suffice if I just reuse my hyper 212 evo?

it would, but not offer a huge difference over the stock cooler

different thermal paste is a good idea though

Yeah I wasn't really expecting that big of a difference but just being able to run it at decent temps (I guess under 70-80 degrees) would be great

it's only a very minor bump on stock clock speed, so yes.

a 300mhz base clock and 100mhz boost clock bump is something any 3700x can oc to easily.
