Hi all, got a question abut updating the Bios for a X370 SLI PLUS motherboard.

Currently my bios version is 7A33v3D from 2018-07-30

I am currently using a R5 1600 cpu

should i update my bios to 7A33v3H from 2019-01-24

or is is it not possible

I might be confusing bios updating with newer chips... not quite sure

anything helps!

Thanks.

also if I were to update bios will i lose my files ?

You can update the BIOS, when you do all your settings change to factory defaults. Are you doing it to support later Ryzen chips?

so gen 1 can update all the way?

not planing to support later chips, waiting for AM5 next year

have problems with memory, thinking updating bios might solve issues

The CPU? The CPU itself doesn't update when you do a BIOS update. They're independent components. Sometimes BIOS updates can help things like memory stability but that really depends on the exact issue. What is the memory doing? (or lack thereof)

If i leave my pc running, and hibernating during the nights, after 3-5 days of up time, memory for chrome is over 50% even when I close chrome. Then when I try and reset pc, error message pops up/flashes stating something to do with memory not being handled or resolved, something like that (I don't have the img with me, and I just reset this PC 2hrs ago so not quite sure I can get that issue atm) (will try and add img within the week)

then there are small but annoying problems with windows... bad sys config info bsod, and atikmdag sys issues.

A BIOS update isn't going to help with Chrome eating your RAM. Chrome doesn't clean up after itself very well when it's done with a process. It leaves a lot of junk in RAM even when you quit the application. When you leave your computer on or put it in Sleep the garbage just piles on-top of itself until your RAM is full and the system doesn't know what to do. The computer relies on shutdowns to clean out the RAM so you really shouldn't be using Sleep every single day unless you have a project open you can't save or just don't want to close.
