Are these components compatible?

Denyl

Hi!

So I'm trying to build a pc. I have an GTX 1070, but it is on a old optiplex 7010 and it doesn't work too good.

An online store in my country runs an sale for an AMD Ryzen 7 2700X 3.7GHz and I'm curious if this system works and if it is good for the money. It is $430.

I'm clearly not a guy who knows how to put up an pc and clearly I need help.

yes but I would choose a better mobo(msi tomahawk at the very least) and faster ram(3000+)

The B450M Pro4 is one of the best B450 boards for budget builds.

true but the problem is his processor is a 2700x not like a 2600 I would still recommend a slightly better motherboard maybe he should get a 2700 oc it and then use the money saved to get a better mobo and faster ram

With this promotion the difference between 2700x and 2700 would be like $20

also, this cpu has a cooler already, no?

It does have a CPU cooler included with the CPU yes, the b450 Tomahawk Max is a perfect board, and the Corsair LPX 16gb 3000 should be fine.

Are you buying a new case and PSU as well? Because Dell Optiplex desktops use proprietary cases and power supplies that more than likely won't work with these components. The Optiplex PSU uses a proprietary 24-pin that is smaller than a standard 24-pin and the motherboard mounting in the optiplex case will be different from a standard motherboard usually upside down and the standoff holes don't line up. So you more than likely will need a new case and psu as well.

I personally wouldn't use the GS700 especially if it's older it's in Tier C on the PSU Tier List and that's pretty low. I personally would go for something of a better quality like an Corsair RMx(2018) PSU a 550W would be plenty for your system.

I have no experience with Deepcool cases but it's a Mid Tower ATX case so it should.

That mobo should handle the 2700x fine.  I would maybe put a couple bucks into getting a little faster RAM if anything;

That being said I did have a similar build with 2400 mHz RAM before upgrading to 3000 mHz, and it wasn't mind blowing or even really noticable.  Might get you a little FPS boost though.  Or a faster CB score ?

El Zoido:  9900k + RTX 4090 / 32 gb 3600mHz RAM / z390 Aorus Master

The Box:  3900x + RTX 3080 /  32 gb 3000mHz RAM / B550 MSI mortar

Also as an aside, I never have had concerns with the VRM at all with that chip on the asrock B450, I messed around with a little overclocking on it, but ultimately was more trouble than worth (often the case with ryzen).  It boosted just fine at stock with XFR on its own with the stock cooler.
