Sort files by file name?

How can i get win 10 to sort files by there name? I scanned a bunch of paper work to pdf. Using dates like 09-14-2019....04-12-2010 and so on...

 

I would like win to sort them in order by month and year. I will rename them if i have to.

Right-click > Sort by > Name.

This was very frustrating it maybe was like this. show > grouping > nothing

Click on the top where it says "Name" to sort by it. Click it again to reverse the sort. ex: ascending > descending

Yes they are. You seem to misunderstand how numerical ordering works.

 

If you want to sort by year, use the European convention and use YY-MM-DD.

I understand numerical ordering. I want the yrs and months to be in order.

 

If i change the files names to YY-MM-DD will that work? To me that data format seems wrong since everything around me is MM/DD/YY even windows.

YYYY-MM-DD makes sorting so much easier. You should use it for everything.

 

You can make scripts to sorth that way, but really, thats how you want your dates. Windows will use what ever date format you want.
