I need help deciding!

Olivia Moore

Okay guys. I need your help. I have been trying to decide between two keyboards. the Massdrop ALT with cherry blues or the Razer huntsman elite.

I really like the ability to change out key switches with the ALT. It also has really good rgb lighting and PBT caps.

But I LOVE the sound and feel of the razer opto-mechanical switches. but has abs caps (which I dont think is that big of a deal) and has multi media keys.

I would really love some feed back on this. I am typing on the ALT as I returned the huntsman but I am having second thoughts.

How about the Alt, but with actually decent switches? Check out the Box Jades for an actually decent clicky switch.

I actually was considering those. They have them on KBDfans but I am unsure as if they are PCB or plate mounted.

They are plate mount, as you can see by then having 3 pins on the bottom

Are you familiar with how the jades feel? Are they stiff or smooth?

Here's a force curve for the Jades.

Here's the force curve for Cherry MX Blues in comparison. As you can see, it's a lot scratchier, less consistent, and the tactile bump is as sharply defined. The result is that the Box Jades are a lot more fun to type on (imo), and the MX Blues feel almost linear in comparison. I desoldered and replaced the Cherry MX Blues in my G710 with Box Jades.

So I have been reading forums about the box jades breaking keycaps. Would that be a concern for my alt?

No. The issue was that the first batch of Box switches had a slightly wider stems than normal. This has been fixed quite a while ago, and is no longer an issue.

GENT
I have your answer....
-__-
....
Rule 1. Razer will always be over priced.
Rule 2. Minimal is better: because you can assign macros PER GAME on a simple keyboard.
and you can set it to automatically kick it on a game. (this is very easy)

Also!!
Minimal keyboards can be repurposed in a pinch (they are just more useful
and you can buy Game-Pad mini-keyboards...

So... F razer
get that little bish...

Whether or not something is overpriced depends on the price. The price varies depending on the region and things like sales. E.g. the Huntsman for €50 was a decent price, since other keyboards with the same Bloody LK switch cost significantly more.

I take it you don't know what macros are.
