All Painted Metal on My Case - How do I Connect an ESD Strap?

Hello, I have purchased an ESD Strap for my PC because I killed my Mobo. One problem, my case (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H4V9T9R/?tag=pcpapi-20) appears to have all painted metal, and the screws are painted. Where can I put the alligator clip for the ESD Strap?

psu chasis if its plugged in but if you are not building on a carpet its usually ok without an ESD strap

My house is all carpet, and my psu chasis is all painted too..

i dont think thats paint but some sort of finish. does it feel cold to the touch if so its probably metal

you could connect it directly to the 3rd pin on the wall socket

Ah, I might do that. Does the plate of the wall outlet have to be taken off or something?

paper clip or something there are also specially made plugs for this purpose

Couldn't I just connect the alligator clip to the painted metal or the grilles of the psu?

Mount the PSU to the chassis first and foremost.  Don't bother with the static strap there.

 

Go ahead and clamp the alligator clip to any metal part of the chassis, painted or not.  It won't be as conductive as an unpainted finish, but it's conductive enough for static discharge.
