Swapping Out Main Components, Keeping SSD w/ Windows

JVBeast

Hello, I can gladly list out the before and after parts of my build if you think that will help but I am just wondering if there is any preparation I need to do within windows 10 before powering my PC off and swapping out the MB, RAM, and CPU. Will windows just recognize this change automatically? I know it's possible but just don't want to forgot some prep work in windows if need be. Failed to find a good YouTube video on this so feel free to link one if you know of one.

Windows 10 usually does fine with platform upgrades. If you jump from Intel to AMD or something similar it can get confused, but oftentimes it just works without issue. I'd back up your important stuff first, then try it. If it works and isn't buggy then you're fine, if not then reinstall windows and the proper drivers for your new hardware.

I swapped from intel to AMD and my computer only booted once from the SSD. I tried to instal cpu drivers and then it wouldn’t boot up again.

Personally I advice backing up the important stuff and doing a clean install when changing components like CPU or GPU

Doing a clean install is HIGHLY recommended. Not reinstalling the OS is just asking for trouble

least weekend i did that on my buddy's pc switched from an old phenom II to skylake while keeping his old win 7. only issue was the new XHCI usb driver. but his board had PS2 emulation for USB so installing the new driver was no prob.

Ok, I don't mind a fresh install as long as my windows license still works.
