The 3600 non X is going to be fine

Just grab one of the MSI B450 boards with USB bios flashing.

Or the ASUS Prime X570 board.

If your current RAM is slow you could also sell it with the i5 and get some 16GB 3600mhz kit.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

I don't know much about Ryzen, but a 7th gen processor from Intel isn't a bad one in the slightest. Are you experienced slowdowns or anything that makes you want to upgrade?

A 4c/4t i5 isn't too great for streaming, where more cores better.

no slowdowns for now, I was just thinking to sell my i5-7600k and motherboard since it still has a market value as of today.

What's the capacity/speed of your current RAM?

So far no slowdowns, just thinking to sell my 7th gen processor while it still has a value

Might be worth just selling the CPU/Motherboard/RAM as a bundle, Ryzen 3000 can scale up to 3600mhz RAM, though 3600mhz RAM may be pricey where you're at.

I'd get some B450 MSI motherboard (Tomahawk, Mortar and Gaming Plus& Bazooka Plus are preferred). And Either 3600 or 2700x, which is heavily discounted.

For the 6c12t vs 4c4t question, this worth reading through-watching:

https://www.techspot.com/review/1859-two-years-later-ryzen-1600-vs-core-i5-7600k/

and both 2700x and 3600 are superieur to the 1600. I'd change to AM4 platform, and sell the 7th gen stuff, as it still has value. You'll be fine with 3000-3200 Mhz RAM-s. Performance difference is really not that much.

Life is really challenging. I don't always suceed: )

okay! For RAMs I strongly recommend Crucial Ballistix Sport 3200Mhz CL16 kits, micron E-die. Or GSkill Ripjaws 2x8gb 3200Mhz CL16, Hynix CJR. These clock up to ~3600Mhz CL16, or 3466Mhz CL14 with a good IMC in your CPU. Very good value for money kits, around the hundred-dollar mark.
