Galaxy watch

Hi everybody 

i am currently trying to figure out how to do away with my phone per say. What i would love is a watch that can make phone calls, and support a hot spot. Not only have i been disappointed in that i was told they all hafto be paired to a phone anyway.

is there a watch out there that stand on its own?

There are smartwatches that are independent... good smartwatches, however?  No, unfortunately. They tend to be poorly adapted Android phones on your wrist.  That and you really, really don't want to run a hotspot from a smartwatch -- your battery life could be measured in minutes.

 

Your best bet is just to get an LTE watch that pairs with your phone, but does let you perform many functions while away from home (though this probably means a slightly more expensive cellular plan to cover both phone and watch).  Ideally this would be an Apple Watch, since it's the best overall watch with a strong app ecosystem, but this also means you need an iPhone.  The Galaxy Watch would be your best pick if you're a resolute Android phone user.
