Idle temperature

IgorM

I bought an used ThinkPad t420 to use as a simple home server running lubuntu currently. CPU usage is as low as 1% on idle and the temperature is around 44°C on both cores. Is the idle temperature above average and should I really replace the thermal place? The laptop is in very good shape and the heatsink looks clean and dust free.

Idle-temperature is irrelevant if it's below 80C, it just doesn't matter. What matters is the load-temperature.
