Finally after a while I think I have found my MOBO - https://www.ebuyer.com/909585-msi-b450-tomahawk-max-amd-socket-am4-motherboard-b450-tomahawk-max?mkwid=s_dc&pcrid=51482416499&pkw=&pmt=&gclid=Cj0KCQjwqs3rBRCdARIsADe1pfQ29D__Vhs2_NFX5oFZxjlcjSAZSVSXAXpfUrcXtcu0Rktv-D2tEXIaAr8pEALw_wcB - (any other recommendations welcome (£110 budget)), however I am yet to decide on ram for the R5 2600 ocd to 4ghz all cores 1.325v. I have a budget of £100 for 16gb of ram and need something that wont cause instability and will gain the most performance possible.

Can somebody recommend a kit of ram that is close to top performance, if timings need to be tightened with infinity fabric then cold somebody explain the process / what I should see performance wise.

Thanks for all of the help! Loving this forum,

Lex

compare the price of the cheapest 3000MHz CL16 kit to the cheapest 3000MHz CL15 or 3200MHz CL16 kit that you can afford. If it's within 20 pounds, get the 3000C15 or 3200C16 kit. Otherwise, 3000C16 is the way to go. Brands dont really matter, all they did is solder memory chips from Samsung, SK Hynix or Crucial onto some PCBs. Cant really go wrong there.

I dont think these kits can push much in frequency... You could try high frequency attempt by setting the timings very high (bad) and see how far that will bring you, or you could just drop each number, from the top to bottom (in the BIOS), one tick at a time, with memory stress test in between. If timings seems difficult, then just leave the memory running at factory profile and just raise the FCLK as much as possible while staying stable.

This is what I was able to find after a quick search - kinda gives an average price,

https://www.corsair.com/uk/en/Categories/Products/Memory/vengeance-lpx-black/p/CMK16GX4M2B3000C15

https://www.corsair.com/uk/en/Categories/Products/Memory/vengeance-lpx-black/p/CMK16GX4M2C3000C16 (3000mhz cl16 has a stange price where I am)

And if  not i'm mistaken a lot of the vengence lpx kits are with Samsung B-die chips or at least according to amds website with their list of comparability.

Most are within my comparability range so which ever one will deliver the best performance with or without tinkering with the timings.

Many thanks :D,

Lex

Corsair Vengeance is just a normal model, nothing special about it to be worth looking for specfically. Not b-die specific, that's for sure. I dont think even the Dominators are B-die only now that it's discontinued by Samsung.

Use uk.pcpartpicker instead.

The prices of 3200mhz cl16 and 300mhz cl15 are mostly the same and well inside of the budget. Any personal preference as to which may work better? Ill also be ocing my cpu so i dont want there to be any issues.

Thanks for help, I had forgot about pc part picker haha,

I have recently changed my parts list and am now using an R5 3600, Once more I can afford the same memory - 3600 cl18, 3200mhz cl16 and 3000cl15. I was recommended purchasing this -

and ocing it using the ryzen dram calc. I was told it could reach 3600mhz cl16 easily.

Could you give me your verdict / recommendation?

Sorry to pester xD, best,

Lex.

I do not take these "beyond rated spec" things for granted. Just because there are plenty of successes doesnt mean you'll get one that good.

What I do know is that there's a big difference between 3000 CL16 and 3200 CL16 in Crucial Ballistix Sport lineup, so I have no diea how well 3000 CL15 will overclock

Could you recommend what you would pick? All of the ram speeds mentioned before, by every brand, are all within budget so if you could suggest the best kit that would be great :D

Preferably one that has some oc room xD

Vengence lpx cl18 3600mhz is £91, cl16 3200mhz is £75 and the cl15 3000mhz is also £75. Just want to point out too that I only use vengence lpx as a base line as its pricing tends to be in the middle of both the high end and low end of other ram makers. Its not specifically because I want to buy that model :D

The budget is £100 or less, what would you pick out of those latencys and the brands on the market? -I want to be able to oc it and Im not sure how likely it is that I will be able to oc the ballistix as much as people have claimed - but of course i have never tested them personally so ....

Thanks for your help :D

this then

Basically striking a balance between frequency and timingx. This kit should be either Micron E or Hynix CJR, even tho Samsung E does fit the timings characteristics it's hardly ever found in kits this cheap.

this then

Basically striking a balance between frequency and timingx. This kit should be either Micron E or Hynix CJR, even tho Samsung E does fit the timings characteristics it's hardly ever found in kits this cheap.

Looks like a good kit on paper. cl17 I could maybe get the latency down to cl16. I wonder how the chips will perform.

Thanks :D,

Lex.
