To keep it short, recently ive upgraded my gpu from a 560, to a 1660Ti. But im not 100% sure im seeing the performance i should.

My specs:

CPU - Intel Core i5-3570k

RAM - 2x4GB 2333Mhz DDR3

GPU - Zotac GTX 1660Ti

Motherboard - Asus P8Z77-V LX

Should I upgrade my RAM to 16GB, or both the cpu and only upgrade to 8gb of ddr4?

Thanks in advance for the help and replies

What's your PSU?

Its a corsair something, 750w. That should be sufficient, right?

Do you have an SSD?

I do, a 240gb Crucial branded one.

Same with replacing the CPU with an i7

So, if i was to upgrade to an i7, would it be possible to get a 4770k? or would it have to be a 3770k?

Don't bother investing more money in an 7-year old platform. Get a B450 Tomahawk, Ryzen 5 3600 and DDR4

I probably should have mentioned im on quite a tight budget. Its taken me like 2 years just to get a gpu upgrade. I just so happened to find the 1660Ti on sale.

No, your board doesn't support 4000 series. But an ancient i7 will perform like a modern Ryzen 3/i3. Do not waste money.also, what exact.model is the power supply. A green CX or yellow VS is going to need replqcement

Then look at a Ryzen 5 1600 on a B450 Pro4. Anything under six cores is a waste in your case

Im not too entirely sure, as the branding is on the other side of the case, and i dont want to dissasemble my computer in the middle of the night lol. Its something like an RM or RX?

Did some research, found a ryzen 5 2600, 16gb 3000mhz, msi b450m pro-m2 v2. would the cpu and motherboard be compatible? its around 450aud all together

Yes. All AM4 B and X series boards support all Ryzen CPUs. Just check the motherboard tier list to see if the board is good.

Also, RM and RMx are excellent quality units (and usually large ones). If you have one of those, no need to worry.

Im not sure what you mean by tier list. I sorted by price low to high, and chose one i thought seemed right.

I mean the forum tier list we have here. Generally, the cheapest good B450 board is the ASRock Pro4. If that's not available, consult the list

That list is very shitty. Ours on this forum is VASTLY  more accurate.

it's honestly not THAT bad, but ours has more info in place

750W is more than sufficient, but depends on the model. Stuff like the EVGA 700N exists - yuck.

From memory, the only old 750W PSU from Corsair to be concerned about, are the old 80plus white TX and TX-M's.

I7 2700, i7 2700k, i7 3770 or i7 3770k.

I7 4770k uses a different.

That's bullshit. It'd be stupid to invest in a new-old stock CPU, but the used market exist.

"A Stitch in time, saves 9", approach doesn't really work here. They won't save any money overall, after the next upgrade, if they move to Ryzen this upgrade - which is the entire basis in your claim, in saying a ivy/sandy upgrade is not worth it.

"A Green CX" 750W is more than fine. The new CX-M uses the same old platform that that used.

There's never been a VS750. Corsair for the most part, keeps wattage and quality somewhat together (unlike other brands).

Have you seen the absurd prices most used i7s are listed at? It's a total rip off. Especially when the i7s are slower than a modern 60$ i3. It's a horrible option.

Also what are you talking about. The green CX750 and CX850 are GS rebrands. Nothing to do with the grey CX. You are making stuff up.

I think I can tell the cheaper option...

As I said, the grey CX750 has nothing to do with the Green CX750 (or CX750M/850M), but the grey CX750M does.
