Hello everybody, i am building yet another HTPC, this time i want to run windows 10. My other HTPCs run Win7 with W media center. But my country is switching to DVB T2 as a new standard. I want to ask you, what programs and their plugis/servers (Kodi) etc are best for streaming TV and recording?

I use Plex, with an HD Homerun connected to my antenna. Then I use Fire Sticks and Roku sticks to stream the content around the house. 

 

Plex is a 2 part thing. First part is the server. This can be installed on an old PC like I did, or you can build a new PC, or even some NAS devices can have plex installed. The hardware needed depends on what kind of content your needing to transcode, though if stuff is in the right file formats for the devices your streaming to, then no transcoding is needed. The second part is a streaming devices like a Fire Stick or Roku stick that can have the Plex app installed. 

The only thing is you will need a Plex pass to do Live TV. It costs monthly OR you do what I did and buy the life time pass for $119. Kodi to my understanding can also connect to the Plex server, though I have never tried it. 

 

Besides that I think there might be some OTA DVR's you can get or Tvio if you interested in that sort of thing. Personally I like Plex, as its DIY, you can get what you need and its easy to expand the capabilities of the server. Because you can run it on PC hardware.
