I'm planning my first ever build, I know some things about PC but not a lot (3 out of 10 maybe).

I don't want to spend more then $2000   and I'm in Canada.

I don't know what ram to get and I already have a case (Fractal Define R4) and an optical drive.

Feel free to make changes/suggestions but can you please state why :) .  Also the 2 SSD are one for OS and the other for games, then the hard drive is for general storage.

hey there!

is the price difference between the 780 and 780 ti great? as a gamer and that too at ur budget i would suggest that u aim for the top spot. If the price difference in ur country(I am from India) is not great then why not go for the ti? Hope i helped

Get a single 250GB ssd, and a consider just getting a 4670k if want to save some money. You could also go with 650W power supply but 750W is good if in case you want to sli. Black HDD are bit overpriced as well. As for ram 8GB is all you really need atm from any brand its all good. 780 is just fine for 1080p.

Operating System:  Microsoft Windows 8.1 - OEM (64-bit)  ($99.99 @ NCIX)
Total: $2040.71

It's a touch over budget, but there's definitely room for tweaking.

If you wanted to have a separate drive for the OS and games, I'd still go with two M500's. It's a great drive.

The 780 is fine for 1080p, so you can save a fair bit there as well, or keep the 780Ti if you don't want to upgrade for a while.

Price drops to $1725 with those two options.

I'd consider the bigger SSD though. Battlefield takes up what, 40GB? That's 1/3 of the drive, and games are only going to get bigger.

I would probably stay with just one 780 ti

Then the 650W is fine.

How much faster is gaming when saved on SSD?

And what difference would the h100i make compared to the h80i other then the obvious bigger rad.

The fps of the game don't depend on the ssd, but the loading times would be much quicker.  The h80i rad is 11mm thicker (38mm vs 27mm) but the h100i is better if you could fit it due to it being a double rad (240mm).  Both have corsair link, which is nice.  Another thing, if you decide to not use the fans that come with the watercooler make sure they are static pressure optimised.

Edited for grammer and clarification.

So if I can fit double rad then go for the h100i? But would there be a difference in cpu temps between the two coolers?

Aside from adding memory I am suggesting a few other changes.

An NH-U14S cooler will be substantially quieter than either an H80i or H100i while offering very decent cooling. It fits better with a case designed for quiet operation.

A single SSD. You can, if you wish create two volumes on the unit. Personally I think systems are easier to manage with a single large system drive that contains o/s, programs and basic user files. The reason for a single unit is that it provides better wear leveling and over the long haul better performance.

A Seagate Barracuda because I've had better luck with them than I've had with WD Blacks. But also because it helps keep the cost down.

An XFX XTR 650W psu. It is a better size for the build. It will also be quieter, especially under load and is a better quality psu.

It looks pretty good.  I like brob's idea of getting a U14s, as long as the ram clears it.  Also, water coolers have 2 point of failure, while tower heatsinks have one.  I think sacrifince the i7 and spending the extra money on a 780 ti was a good idea.

If the only thing, and I do mean ONLY thing a system is doing is gaming then it might be worth looking at a 780 Ti. Otherwise the roughly 36% premium isn't worth it.

An i7 has about a 25% premium and while it doesn't offer anything in gaming, does provide an edge when doing more than one thing, streaming, video editing, etc.

After all the changes, I came up with these, they both fit in budget but is it even work the i7 or should i just upgrade something in the i5 build? Also should I switch the coolers for the u14s? Even tho I really want a liquid cool pc.

I would go witht the H80i.

If you plan of OCing, you should get faster ram.  See this article for why.  http://www.anandtech.com/show/7364/memory-scaling-on-haswell/10

I would recommend picking a set from here.  There are 5 sets for under $95.  I would get these if you could.

The Corsair memory part is not optimal as it requires 1.65v to do DDR3-1600MHz.

If you really want AIO, go ahead. The H80i will do a very good job cooling the cpu.

Rosewill CAPSTONE-650-M, SeaSonic S12G-650 or XFX P1-650B-BEFX would be better psu choices in my opinion.

An i5-4670K is the optimal choice for a system that will be used principally for gaming.
