Hey Linus community, just wondering if i should get i5-9600K or i7-9700K, this is because the i5 is $200 cheaper. im plannig on pairing it with a rtx 2060

What budget/country, what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What kind of games/software?

As an R5 3600 with an RX 5700 is likely a better PC.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

im in Australia and I'm running 144hz and want to play rust

Then it looks like a cheaper Ryzen 5 CPU will be fine.

And I'd either go with an RX 570/580, or make the jump to a bit overkill RX 5700 which is about $500 AUD

Don't know your budget.

maybe a higher end gpu would be better to hit consistent 144fps, maybe RX 5700? From the video it's barely hitting 100+ FPS on a 1060 6GB so an RX 570 wouldn't help, 5700 should provide sufficient power though

The price jumps on the AUS PC part picker can be crazy sometimes.

Unless you want to do streaming/video editing or something like that, the $300 R5 3600 + $150 MSI B450 board that you can flash the bios on is fine for games.

Hard to beat the RX 5700 at that price, even with the reference cooler. for some reason aftermarket cards are $200 more, can just buy an aftermarket GPU cooler or even water cool it instead of buying those. The 5700 is more like a 2070, for the same price as a 2060.

This PSU is just nicer, doesn't really affect performance.

The cooler says it has AM4 support, but " Please contact us for free AM4 bracket if needed "

Ryzen 5 3600 for $310, vs the 9600K for $360, AMD is much more appealing here

Came in a bit under budget for more wiggle room, you can drop in a more powerful GPU like a 2080 or 2080 super, or CPU like 3700X if you need more cores for non gaming purposes. You could get more ram if you do 3D modeling, or more storage if you like.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Way better off with an MSI B450 board if you're trying to keep the price down.

Also with the $500 RX 5700, can just flash the bios to the XT to make up for some of the performance difference.

That case is kind of narrow for some CPU coolers.

I mean, I'm not since the budget offers so much room

The case is easy to work with and very affordable, and if you need a huge heat sink, there's always the dark rock TF for low profile performance. Otherwise hyper 212 black edition is a good choice.

Then I'd go for a slightly more expensive board like the gaming X.

The case is fine, but the 155mm / 6.1 (in) max height for CPU Coolers is just annoying, just needed 6 more mm to accept almost everything.

Actually didn't notice that it was only $308 so that would be a good pick

Or just cut a big hole in the side panel for it to stick out and do it hot rod style

@VEXICUSyes being the cheapest comes with a drawback. I've seen the reviews, I already know.
