Im looking for advise on whether or not a generic VPN client like OPENVPN or other client could take the place of the built in Windows VPN? Would prefer a MACOS client, but not too fussy ?

Perhaps Cisco anyconnect client?

Below are the config details for windows vpn...

  • VPN Type [ L2TP/IPsec Pre-Shared Key ]
  • Pre-Shared Key [ ***** ]
  • Type of sign-in [ Username and password ]
  • Username [ COMPANY\username ]
  • Password [ Active Directory Password ]
  • Remember Sign-in [ Ticked ]

SECURITY

  • Data Encryption: “Require Encryption (disconnect if server declines)”
  • Check “Allow these protocols” -Select “Unencrypted Password” PAP
  • De-select Microsoft CHAP Version 2 (MS-CHAP v2)

NETWORKING

  • Select Internet Protocol V4 (IPv4) and click “Properties”
  • Select “Use the following DNS Addresses”

i. 10.0.0.26

ii. 8.8.8.8

  • Click “Advanced” then in the box that appears, go to the “DNS” tab At the bottom, the “DNS suffix for this connection” enter [ companyname.co.uk ]
