Ryzen 3900x mATX Motherboard

MasonK

Hi Everyone,

I'm currently putting together an AMD Ryzen 3900x build and am planning to build it inside the Corsair 280x case. However, I can't seem to find any mATX motherboards with support for WiFi and two m.2 slots. I was wondering if more X570 motherboards are planning to be released before the end of the year, or if manufacturers aren't interested in making mATX boards for the third generation of Ryzen CPUs.

It is also possible that I'm not looking in the right places. So far, I've searched NewEgg (Canada), Memory Express, and Amazon, but to no avail.

If you have any recommendations or insights on the matter, please let me know.

Thank you in advance,

Mason K.

They aren't and that's why I have i9's

You are limited to B450 motherboards, there's a few okay mATX there like the Steel Legends and TUF Gaming but nothing that you can call high end.

Asrock has an X570 motherboard with two M.2 connectors, https://pcpartpicker.com/product/KZLwrH/asrock-x570m-pro4-micro-atx-am4-motherboard-x570m-pro4. Given mATX, if the only expansion slot needed is for the gpu, the second slot on the motherboard would be available for a WiFi / Bluetooth card.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Thank you for the information, @Jurrunio and @Princess Luna. It appears I may have to rethink my build, and instead use an i9-9900k seeing as there are more motherboards compatible with it. (An added benefit is that it is on sale in Canada for $60 less than the 3900x.)

Well yes, but actually no. The only high end Z390 board is the Maximus XI Gene which costs a ton (if even in stock). Others like the Z370-G (Asus, has Wifi version) or Z370/Z390 Micro (EVGA) are at best mid range. However they dont give you room to upgrade as the platform is very dead when next gen comes out, and much inferior to the 3900x in multithreaded work.

If you really want mATX, check X399. Asrock makes an mATX board for it (X399M Taichi) and the 12 core 1920x is 60% the price of a 3900X, 16 core 1950x is about 90%. Sadly the board itself cost $500.

You don't have many option for mATX Z390 boards either. At least not ones that will handle it without throttling. The Asus Maximus Gene is your best option but not sure if it is sold in the USA.

Do you really need 2 x M.2 Slots ?

I haven't read any reviews on the 1920x. How does it compare to the 3900x in gaming and productivity? Sorry if this is an unordinary question, but why is it significantly less expensive than the 3900x if it has more cores and performs better?

I am interested in running two Samsung NVMe Pro SSDs in raid 1. Mind you, I could live without it.

no 1920x is slower. As a Zen based 12 core, it's more like a pair of 1600x stuck together. Hence the latency issue and single core performance of say, a 1600x and multithread performance like a 3rd gen 10 core.
