Pc won't start anymore

Go to solution Solved by Random-guy,

Update: it was indeed the psu I swapped the psu with my old one from 6 years ago and everything works flawless but wow I didn't expect to see a corsair Rm850x psu die so fast.

Hi

I was using for months a cheap case so recently I decided to rebuild my pc in a new case for a better airflow/more  headroom etc. But after rebuilding it in the new case , the pc doesnt start anymore, the fans dont start spinning and there is no led light nothing nothing even tho I used exacly the same components as in my old case except for a new aio cooler.

The specs are:

Coolermaster H500P mesh

Msi tomhawk z390

Corsair H150i 360mm

i7 9700k

Rtx 2080 ti

16 gb g.skill trident z 4133 mhz

Corsair Rm850x

When I try to turn on the pc, it will make a click/popping noise and if try to power it on again nothing happens. Then 3-4 min later if I try to turn it back on it will make the same click sound.

I'm pretty sure I connected everything correctly, even if something is not connected correctly the pc should show some signs of life right ? I also tried to remove all the extra ram, gpu and disconnected all the hdd/ssd but nothing.

I think it has something to do with the psu, but my psu was working just fine yesterday in my old case and all these components are stil very new.

This is starting to get frustrating so any help/suggestions is appriciated.

P.s I posted this 30 min ago but my original post was removed for some reason so im posting it again

Not necessarily. If you have e.g. plugged something the wrong way around, it could be creating a short and might prevent the system from doing anything. Might have even fried something.

Agree, check the 4+4 pin connector for the CPU, I did that one time on a Dell, thankfully all it did was give a post code.

I see, thx for the ur reply, I just checked and all the cables and pins were connected correctly, the 24 motherbord pin connector ,8 pin cpu connector and the front pannel are all correct. I might have connected cpu fan 1 to something like cpu fan 2 but I doubt that would be a problem, anyway I planning to reassemble the whole pc again with new wires since i hava modular psu with extra wires and only connect the important ones like 24 pin connector, 8 pin connector etc,

Thx for the msg, I checked those connections earlier but ill check it again, and maybe even reassemble the whole pc again, a friend of mine told me the psu might be dead but I highly doubt it since its a high quality psu from 2 months ago and yesterday in my old case it was working fine

If you dont plug something in to the CPU fan or pump header the system will think that you have no CPU cooler and will shut itself off right after it powers up.

Ic , the cpu fans and pumps are all plugged in so im not sure what the problem is, and I wouldnt expect from my corsair Rm850x to die after 2 months since its a high quality one not sure

Every single mobo I've used the last two decades has powered up just fine without any fan connected. Never seen one that refused to power up without a fan.

I agree, the problem is with something else, just a question would the system still power up without a cpu ?

Some mobos do spin fans up and show an error via LEDs or a small LCD in such case, some refuse to react at all, and there are even some mobos that let you perform BIOS-update without any CPU installed, though those seem to be rather rare.

If you want to see if it's PSU related you could disconnect the PSU from the machine, and connect the green wire to a black wire on the 24-pin. It'll send the power on signal to the PSU that way you can see if it still works or not.

Oh sure I will definetly try to see if the psu is the issue, if other things are fine

Mine would power up then immediately turn off without a cpu fan plugged into the CPU fan header. I accidentally plugged mone into a case fan header. Same happened with my brother's.
