There was an old (I'm fairly certain) prototype virtual assistant/search engine I think by Microsoft (I could be totally off on that), the webpage featured a full bodied human "assistant" that would interact with you when you searched things. Was this real or am I just imagining it like the movie about a genie staring Sinbad..

This was like when dial up was still rampant, it was a long time ago. I think DSL and Cable internet was fast at 1.44Mbps lol. and I could be off base with it being Microsoft, I honestly don't remember for sure. It was some kind of prototype that was not really publicized I think I found it mentioned in a computer magazine (like Extreme PC or something.)

god no.. this was a webpage, and the virtual person was a female (which was also a video captured person, not a cgi avatar.) It was some kind of legit search engine. You could almost interact with it, it would have different responses to your questions and stuff. It was very much like an early virtual assistant. almost chat bot like. and it may not have been Microsoft, the more I good the less I think it was.
