Hello guys,

I'm planning a build for my parents as a gift for them. I do not have much of a budget, in fact, this list probably maxes it out so I was wondering if these parts are compatible to one another or if i'm missing anything. Also, if anyone out there could somehow cheapen the cost without sacrificing too much performance.

This computer will be intended for mainly work with some side gaming. Nothing too heavy though, maybe just for games like PvZ, Hearthstone, TF2, etc as my mum enjoys them.

The peripherals are covered.

AMD FX 4130 4-Core Black Edition Processor

ASUS M5A78L-M LX V2 Motherboard

Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) 1600MHz Value RAM DDR3

BitFenix Prodigy M Case Black

Seagate Barracuda 1TB ST1000DM003

Corsair VS350 ATX Power Supply

Thank you for taking the time to read this and i'm sorry if I'm lacking experience as I am new to this.

I wish I had a cool mom like that haha.

No but honestly, I hate to break it to you, but at a price like that, you can get something better off the prebuilt market...

You're better off going with a Pentium, also, probably should get a slightly cheaper case, it'll help.

Notice you're from Australia, I am too, how about something like this?

My Personal Rig - AMD 3970X | ASUS sTRX4-Pro | RTX 2080 Super | 64GB Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB DDR4 | CoolerMaster H500P Mesh

My Wife's Rig - AMD 3900X | MSI B450I Gaming | 5500 XT 4GB | 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3200 | Silverstone SG13 White

I thought am3+ CPUs don't have igpus so I would go with a a8 5600k and a cheap a55 mobo

Your right they don't...

Just like someone said above either get an apu if you have no more budget or if you just forgot, add a reasonable gpu to the list.

CPU: I5 4670k @ 4ghz Motherboard: MSI z87 G45 Gaming RAM: 2x 4GB Avexir and Corsair 2x4gb ddr3 @ 1600mhz GPU: MSI GTX 1080 SeaHawk EK PSU: EVGA SuperNova P2 750w Boot SSD: Intel 320 120GB Storage: Crucial 256gb ssd and Samsung 250gb ssd

What would you recommend as a reasonable gpu?

By reasonable I meant something that fits your budget and it really depends on how much you have to spent. Although like you said if main purpose for this pc will be work and some side gaming anything above gtx 650ti and ti boost will be an overkill, perhaps gtx 650 and lower or amd counterpart (7790 perhaps?) but then again it is not recommended to buy cheaper gpus than that because the price to performance ratio just gets bad.

Wouldn't a single stick of ram run in single channel and reduce the bandwidth, reducing the performance. For some reason there are 2133 8gb kits if g skill ram on PCM case gear get that. Also I think there was a CPU called that a8 6600k that was cheaper with just a lower clock speed.

Desktop -  i5 4670k, GTX 770, Maximums VI Hero, 2X Kingston Hyper X 3k in raid zero.

Laptop - Lenovo X230 Intel 535 480GB, 16GB Gskill memory, Classic Keyboard Mod, Triple USB 3.0 Express Card.
