Samsung 860 Evo v Intel 660 p ?

Hey Linus Community, I am new to the PC world and thus opted to utilize NZXT’s BLD service opposed to building (I know — I just don’t have the time). I wanted some input on the storage options: 1) Samsung 860 Evo 2.5, 2) Intel 660 p & 3) Samsung 970 Pro. My plan was to buy 1 TB of the NVMe Sambrent Rocket and supplement it with one of the NZXT options (Bc it’s required). Should I get 1 TB of the Samsung 860 Evo or  Intel 660 p? Seems like the channel is partial to Intel 660 p, so I am leaning towards that SSD, but I would love any insight/recommendations/help, etc.

Basically the Sabrent Rocket if you want TLC but if you're okay with QLC both the P1 and 660p will do.

@traha9 What are the prices of the drives in your country, and what will you be doing with the drives?

The 1TB of Sabrent will be my primary drive. I am only getting the Intel/Samsung bc it’s required by NZXT. The computer is primarily a gaming rig, but it’s also my workstation. Maybe I should only get 500 GBs bc I am supplementing it with the Sabrent?

@Princess Luna yes I am 100% getting the Sabrent, but I still have to choose between the Samsung and Intel drives. Which would you recommend between those two ?

Well with these prices I believe the Evo 860 is your best bet.

 

The 660p is unbeatable in pricing on the USA and other places but in some countries where it has to be imported due to taxes and what not it loses its value appeal.

The Samsung drive is higher quality and will last you longer,i had go with Samsung.

Performance type reasoning ? Or simply due to price and the performance differences are negligible?

The later, as per the video above, you will not be able to feel a performance difference between these drives using them just for mainstream stuff, gaming and what not... reliability wise they are both fine too.

 

The 860 Evo is not worth a 40 dollars premium, specially when it's a SATA3 one.
