Upgrade Advice - graphics cards

Hi All,

 

I am currently considering upgrading my pc, which is collecting a bit of dust at this point.

Current parts:

I5 4460 - stock cooler

Msi Gtx 960 (2GB  )

8gb Ram

Samsung evo SSD

Corsair 600W psu

 

I'm unsure which graphics cards to look into, although I have no brand preference. Or are my components just too out of date?

What do you plan on doing with the PC? What kind of display? Do you plan to upgrade the CPU in the near future?

I think the cpu is a bit out of date - being a low end i5 of an old generation. However you should still be fine with cards from the rx 570 to the gtx 1660, in my opinion. My suggestions are either the rx 570, rx 580 or gtx 1660 (1060 6gb too if you can find it for the 580's price)

I am using a 1080p display, with no plan to upgrade resolution

The system would be for light programming, word docs, browsing etc and 1080p gaming. Nothing too intensive. Hoping to slowly upgrade ram, cpu/motherboard over time

Id say find a cheap RX580 and save the rest for a future CPU upgrade. (Although the i5-4460 is doable with some modern games). I would suggest this to be your next big upgrade. Look Ryzen......... @Extreme23
