You know what, fuck it, I'll just buy the Y540. Seems like an allround great laptop for the price.

Hello,

I'm looking into buying a Lenovo Ideapad S540 15.6" with GTX 1650 and i5-8265U and was wondering if anyone has any experience with this device?

I couldn't really find anything about it online.

 

It stands between the S540 and the Ideapad L340 with similar specs.

It would be nice with an ultrabook, but it doesn't really matter that much. I do strongly appreciate build quality though.

The IdeaPad lineup isn't spectacular these days, typically not even on par with the entry-level E-series ThinkPads. That said, it doesn't have the pathetic build quality issues that most other comparable brand lines--looking very squarely at you, Dell XPS--have right now.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

Lenovo Legion Y540 with GTX 1660 ti and i5 is also an option

Specifically the 15.6" Y540 (just in case there is a 17")

That's far far better if you want good cooling and sustained performance.
