Less CPU Cores

My i7-8750H is a 6 core processor, but on task manager, it says it has 3 cores. I did go to system config and change the amount of cores of 6, but i don't know how that would decrease the amount of cores I have

Have you checked what CPU-z is listing?

sys config, advanced options and boot tab, shows the number of logical processors, in your case that should be 12. But better to just leave it alone and untick that option IMO.
