Recently built this PC and was having no issues. The next day and it crashes after a few minutes in game and a minute or so in Furmark. I was having issues with the top pcie slot so that's why it is in the x8 slot. I am also aware cable managment isn't great but one problem at a time. Bracket on the card doesnt line up to the case so is not screwed in but weight is being supported by corsair universal graphics card holder. System has not been moved at all since yesterday when it was working.

specs:

I9900k @ 3.6ghz

MSI RTX 2080ti gaming x trio

32gb ddr4 corsair vengence @ 3200 mhz

samsung evo 970 evo 1TB

msi z390 gaming edge AC

Noctua NHD-15

EVGA 750 G3

worked fine yesterday though. Was gaming for hours in 4k with no issues, can't even do a few minutes now

What sort of Shutdown?

Because if its GPU loads, its likely GPU or PSU.

I wrote SSD Down because of suggestions on the phone

sorry missed this response, the game would often just crash and produce that horrible constant buzzing noise often with some pixelated mess on the screen. then the screen would go black but the leds and fans on the pc would still be on. then the pc reboots sometimes with some green dots all over the monitor, these dots dissappear when restarting though.

Sounds like GPU issue yes. RMA the GPU.

The G3 PSU isnt fantastic, but shouldnt cause such issues.

That sounds right but do you know why it worked absolutely perfectly for around 24 hours

no good idea. im still a little suspective of the G3 as the OCP is set a bit high, but you shouldnt have been close to that.

but since you have graphical issues its either cable or GPU.

OCP?

Can a faulty gpu cause a full pc crash then? I apologise I’ve learnt everything from LTT in the past month and still have much more to learn

it can, but it can also cause damage. i dont think thats what happened, as the G3 isnt terrible by any means.

Over Current Protections. you wont learn anything from LTT when it comes to PSUs, ive only got a very basic overview myself.

Ok thanks man

im going to give my gpu to a friend to test on his rig for a few days, hopefully this trial and error can help track down the source of the problem. You don’t think there would be any issues with the pcie slot due to the weight of the 2080ti do you?
