Hello, everybody!

I am trying to install a 2.5" ide hdd in my pc using an adapter to sata + power. I want to use it with Ubuntu Server CLI. Although the installer detects the disk, my hard drive isn't among the BOOT DEVICES when I hit f9 on the post screen. This means that I won't be able to boot into it after os is installed.

Please help me.

First place I'd look is the IDE/SATA adaptor. I don't believe many of them are capable of being used as boot devices. If you've got another brand of adaptor with a different chipset on board, I'd try that first. There may be another trick, which would be to use it via a USB adaptor, and see if it registers via the USB bus. Not pretty, but at the speeds you're talking about with IDE, I don't suppose you'd loose much.
