My Laptop Wont Boot With Battery In

I own a hp pavilion g7-1368dx and i can boot to windows and run at full performance without the battery in and the ac power plugged in. Its when I try and put the battery in and plug the ac power brick in that it doesn't boot, the caps lock and num lock flash, while the wifi indicator is amber and still. it sits with a black screen and no response at all. I left it to sit and plugged in for a while and it began to boot but got stuck at the startup menu and this is the first time that it made it this far in a very long time if someone can help me that would be great, thanks!
