I’ve recently upgraded my old i5-7600k to an i7-9700k and now my PC only boots for a second, then shuts down. I’ve tried going back to the old cpu and it works fine, I’ve updated BIOS, made sure I have the latest drivers for the intel chipset, tried reinstalling every part, but still everytime I try running the PC with the I7, it simply won’t boot. I’ve run out of options, thanks for any help!

Specs:

I7-9700k

MSI rtx 2060 S

msi z270

16gb ddr4

550W psu

When in doubt, use pcpartpicker.com to check compatibility. These are unfortunately not compatible.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I need?

Thought they were compatible if they had the correct socket. Guess I got pranked by intel om this one.
