The CPU will ramp up to 5GHz on all cores under load, and ramp down when idle.  The days of running your CPU at max OC 24/7 are behind us (I'm looking at you e4300).

Honestly I often find CPUs rarely die. though in mayn cases its not owrth it to buidl a enw system around them. I had a single core athlon 64 bought around 2004 and it lasted until the power supply failed in 2015ish as a backup pc/ htpc. The powersupply blew (original to the build i should have replaced it years ago its was nto a good one) and a newer PSU would nto boot it. I could have gotten a new board to try on the silicone but at that age it was not worth the effort. I already had a few older cpu/mobos and threw a amd 955 black edition /ddr3 rig into the case for the same duty ith a better corsair PSU.

How were you planning on Overclocking and Delidding then 8700K then?
