RAM speed displayed as 1333mhz although BIOS stating 2666

So basically, i was playing wildlands and i realised WHAT! why is my ram speed so dog. so i investigated via task manager and CPU-Z, 133mhz?!? So i went to bios to change the ram speed to 2666. after rebooting i checked through task manager and cpu-z but to no avail it didnt budge. 

 

SPECS:

Asus strix b450-f

ryzen 3 2600

lpx 2x4gb 2666mhz

gtx 1050

rm650x PSU

1 Samsung SSD 850 500gb

1 WD 1TB HDD 

 

 

i tried looking for xmp but intel only :((

CPUZ reports the clock speed, and since it's DDR4 (DOUBLE data rate), it's effective speed is 2666 which your BIOS shows.

Double Data Rate

 

Your bios shows the bit rate, which is 2 times the frequency with double data rate. I.e two bits gets transferred per cycle. While the CPU-Z shows the actual cycle rate.

so essentially i am running 2666mhz?

i thought each ram module ran 2666mhz each therefore if cpu-z displays double of what each ram speed is set to, shouldn't it display 2666x2= 5332

like, as advertised 2666mhz

Think of it like 2 cars doing 100mph vs 1 car at 100mph.  Still running at 100mph, not 200mph, but carrying 8 people instead of 4.

 

RAM isn't running faster, it's doing twice as many things at the 2666MHz speed.

No, each module is running at 2666. I was explaining why it wasn't showing 5332.

ok, so my friend has 4x2133mhz ram, i asked her to check her bios and said 2133mhz, she also checked task manager it also says 2133mhz and checked cpu-z and said 1066mhz.

 

why are all these stating differently from cpu-z
