HDMI cable question

Hi guys so i have acer predator screen whit 240hz but my gaming laptop that i use at my other home doesnt support displayport i checked that there are  HDMI cables that support high hz. does it require newer HDMI port from my laptop?  i have acer predator helios 300.  thanks in advance

The Acer Predator Helios 300 has DisplayPort according to Acer's website? Anyway, without the specific monitor model this is a guess, but it looks like that monitor only supports up to 60 Hz over HDMI: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/predator-model/UM.KX2AA.001

Can you tell use the specific model of the monitor?

NH.Q3DED.040 Laptop UM.KX2EE.001 display

 

I used to use this display at my other place where i have my main PC and it is 240hz over displayport but now that its my 2nd monitor i use it whit this laptop and its tilting me that i get only 60 hz.

Alot of Laptops do not have hdmi 2.0 only 1.4 so u only can get 60 herz maybe 70  u need a displayport 1.4 Cable for it to work ur laptop should have dp EDIT The Helios 300 DOES not have a DP thats kinda what the fk if notebookcheck is right and if it is a 1060/1050ti model

That monitor is limited to 60 Hz over HDMI. You need to use DisplayPort. If you don't have DisplayPort output on your computer you can use an HDMI to DisplayPort adapter up to 1080p 120 Hz.

Yeah its 1060 i bought it on sale to be my 2nd pc fuck im tilted now i guess i buy the hdmi to DP adapter to get even the 120hz. And yeah i know the laptop has 144hz screen but i cant see shit from 17 inch display. This laptop also throttles even in Csgo kind of hilarious. Im sticking to desktops from now on

ye well the helios is kinda a *budget* laptop so they cheap out where they can ^^

Ok. Just make sure you get an HDMI to DisplayPort adapter that supports what you need, some adapters will be limited to 1080p 60 Hz, and most of the ones you find will probably be DisplayPort to HDMI adapters, not HDMI to DisplayPort.
