Recent build infrequently/randomly powers off during gaming.

Gerr

I bought the parts for this build last Black Friday, but only built it this past March.  The main uses of this PC are 1080p gaming & Handbrake transcoding.  It can run for 6-10 hours at 100% CPU utilization while doing transcodes and is stable for that.  Max temp during that is 75*C.  Every once in a while, though very infrequently, it just totally shuts down during gaming.  No BSOD, just a quick power off.  Heat is NOT the issue as the last time it shut down, I was playing Skyrim SE and neither the CPU nor the GPU were anywhere near maxed out as I had capped my system at 60FPS.  I had been playing games on this since March, but these shutdowns only started about a month ago.  Any thoughts?

Hardare:

i7-8700(non-K) cooled by a be quiet Dark Rock 3.

EVGA Z370 MATX mobo

32GB Ballistix DDR4-3000 (downclocked to 2666 for CPU compatibility)

EVGA GTX 1070 Ti FTW2-ICX GPU (+200 core, +500 mem)

Two NVMe drives, a 500GB for OS(HP-920EX) and a 1TB(Intel 660p via PCIe adapter) for game storage.

EVGA 650W GQ PSU.

Phanteks Enthoo M Pro case with 2x140mm Thermaltake RGB intake fans and one matching one for exhaust.

Put your video card overclock back to stock speeds.  If its only doing it in games but you can work a load in winblows then ya stock up the video card then let us know.

Do you have anything else plugged into the same outlet/Surge protector? Might not be a PC issue and more of an outlet issue. Just a thought!

2 possible issues IMO.

1.  Your GPU is damaged and triggering the PSU's protection.

2.  PSU is damaged and normal/high use is triggering protections.

That is just shuts off and restarts is a protection tripping.

My best guess.
